Hey, I’m Joanna. I am a full time traveller and global local guide!
For six months of the year I work as a trip diver for an 18-35’s tour company around Europe. We visit all the top destinations and I use Google maps daily to get around, check the traffic (and any low bridges!) and find all of the best spots. Reading reviews from this community not only improves my work but helps the travellers on my trips have a better time too! I have found some true hidden gems on google maps such as the church of Michael the Archangel in Capri, with its beautiful mosaic floor. Sometimes I drive in places I have never been and getting a huge 53 seat coach around isn’t always easy. So having the knowledge of Google maps, street view and parking reviews makes my life a lot less stressful! I keep the roads up to date with my own contributions to help out others too.
For the other half of the year I pack up my small carry on backpack and hit the airways for a little farther afield adventure. In 2018 I managed to visit a whopping 43 countries! Now if that’s not an addiction I don’t know what is! But again Google local guides was an integral part of my journey. From finding a secret beach in Sri Lanka to a stilt house dive shop in Malaysian Borneo that is helping the local community with their plastic pollution, a quick check of the reviews gave me my next destination. I love writing reviews, especially in more remote parts of the world, and hope they help someone else to find something amazing in the world.
I really just want to thank Google and this great community for making the world a more friendly and easy to navigate place. I love sharing my travels with others through reviews and hope to inspire others to see more of the big beautiful world we live in!
