Today heritage walk to Triplicane got cancelled. Infact the team was planning to hold it irrespective of a downpour, still water clogging made them cancel the walk today.
Not wanting to go home immediately, I planned my own heritage walk in Triplicane till Marina beach lighthouse.
So from Thulasinga Perumal Kovil street taking a left takes you to Marina beach Ambedkar statue. From there Lighthouse is 30 minutes away. On the whole I did a 45mts walk today. On the way I stopped by a few small temples, a roundtana decorated with greenery. Statues like Swami Vivekananda, An ancient boat, Sri Rabindranath Tagore statue, Sri Ambedkar statue, Kanagi statue, Sri Gandhiji statue crossed my view.
There are lots of pushcarts who sell idly, parotta, Urundais, poori kizhangu, Upma breakfast along with a strong cup of coffee in the morning.
My first ever view of most beautiful Chennai from 6am to 8am today which will be memorable always.

Hi @Nomad_vikram Thanks for tagging me and introducing me a new Local guide friend.
Hi @Radhika26 thanks for sharing your beautiful experience. Felt cool reading your post. Good that you did on your your own and enjoyed the Marina walk. I agree with you, that after a rain shower the whole stretch of the beach road is absolutely beautiful.
Initially what was the plan of your group’s heritage walk? How many places and how much time?
I am from Chennai and let’s be connected.

Thanks, dear @Nomad_vikram for tagging me in this post by LG @Radhika26 .
Firstly, congratulations for your ‘Heritage Walk’… As rightly asked by our @Gurukrishnapriya , which group took the initiative? Is it a Google based Group?
Also, remember to apply & get the approval for such meet-ups from Google Connect - I’m sure, your fellow LG @Gurukrishnapriya can help you… We are all there…
All the locations you have mentioned are prominent PoIs (Point of Interest) in Marina Beach - congratulations.
Kindly prepare a list of LG friends and tag them in your future posts.
PS:
It is not proper to write a whole post in ‘Bold’ - bold letters are used to emphasise some important points only - kindly edit & use normal fonts, please.
Another important suggestion:
Username (UN):
- Keep the UN easily rememberable for others - probably, other LGs use/type your username more than you.
- Keep the UN S****imple, Short and Legible.
- I suggest keeping UN in English which makes it easy to Tag.
- Make the UN easily connectable with your name/profile/personality.
- Of course, if your DP (profile photo) can help others remember your UN, it will be good.
Hope this will help you
Regards

Hello @TravellerG . Noted the points. Yes will change posts from bold to normal hereon.
It is not Google based group. I had enrolled for heritage walk at Madrasinherited.com. I have not attended any Google meet up so far. Will definitely attend to them in future.

Hello @Gurukrishnapriya .
Thank you very much. Yes I would love to connect with you. I am very much a Chennaite like you.
I started attending this year Madras day heritage walks which is organised by TN government and many private heritage enthusiast in the month of August September. From say about 10 walks I started attending regular heritage walks run by Madrasinherited.com, Goethe institute and Mr. V Sriram walks.
Their walks are pre planned well in advance and through WhatsApp or mail they communicate. Mostly all through the month weekends heritage walks happen. They usually go in for a group of 20 to 25 members. It’s a 2 hour walk and lot of history is covered along with myth stories, heritage places and ancient madras stories. You can find info about Madrasinherited and Goethe institute in insta page, while Mr.V Sriram it’s Madras musings website.
