Giving Back by Supporting Entrepreneurs Is what Local Guides means to me.

A Classic Car at the 7th Annual Rockabillaque - Park Circle.

I first came across local guides while on a road trip to the “Black Mountains” Lynch and Cumberland, old coal mine cities in Kentucky that barely have any jobs and have a rapidly dwindling population.

On a visit to Cumberland I realized that their town hall had the wrong address listed on google and I was amazed to find out that I could suggest an edit, that night I was stunned when my edit was actually applied.

From that point on I was hooked to taking pictures, posting and verifying that every small cafe or shop I patronized was listed on google maps.

The locals are always so welcoming and give awesome service yet they barely get any recognition. So I make it a point to give a shout out to my server by their name, if I can remember it ! My reviews and pictures of every place that I visit is to share my experience especially when it`s good and help the rest of the world discover them.

Since then I have reviewed and posted about most of the places that I have visited especially those in my neighborhood.

I live in a part of North Charleston called Park Circle and we are a service based economy with restaurants, a cafe, pet shop, breweries and my favorite an Ice cream parlor called Park Circle creamery. We also host many block parties which I enjoy and thus post on to google to give back a little bit.

Right now like other service oriented cities my neighborhood’s business district is taking a beating due the Covid-19 pandemic but we shall yet arise when it’s all done.

Hi @Denkom , Lovely to read your experience with Local guides program. Yes, I do agreed supporting local entrepreneurs is important. Thank you for doing your bit for the ones in your community. Let’s hope and pray that the covid19 pandemic ends soon and we’re able to start exploring once again.

Cheerio!

Thanks @_reet03 we all have to try to keep our chin up. One of our neighbours had this in the window of their closed business.
