Since New Zealand is surrounded by the sea, it is common that you can see lighthouses. I am not talking about its functions, how these lighthouses work but as a visitor, I am very fascinated to see closer ones by myself.
According to Maritime New Zealand, there are 23 lighthouses and 75 lightbeacons around New Zealand. It is nice as visitors could also access those places and enjoy the view.
These are names of lighthouses people can visit:
- Castle Point
- Cape Reinga
- Tiritiri Matangi Island
- East Cape
- Cape Palliser
- Pencarrow Head
- Somes Island
- Nelson Boulder Bank
- Akaroa Head
- Katiki Point
- Nugget Point
- Waipapa Point
- Farewell Spit
- Cape Egmont
- Cape Foulwind
What are your experiences with the lighthouses?

@Austinelewex when I was in Cape Reinga, the weather was not so good. It was raining. Actually, it was fascinating because from the lighthouse, you can really see the two oceans meet: Pacific ocean and Tasman sea. It draws a clear line between these two!

Wow! @Sophia_Cambodia
I have watched it on YouTube before. I never get to see it live dear.
I’m Happy you saw it.
Did you manage to take a shot. Was it too far from eyeview?

@Austinelewex I did capture many shots but the photos were kept in the hard drive so these photos I copied back from my Facebook so the quality is not so good. For me, what my eyes saw was extremely amazing… photos are just assistant to remind me of that good time. I am glad you like these photos of mine.

I’ve been to Cape Reinga on a sunny day - simply stunning! Castle Point is actually the photographer’s favourite. You can see it on the new calendar - it’s always there LOL! @Sophia_Cambodia

@OliverKIWI I haven’t got a chance to see Aurora Australis, it was too cold… I guess, I might have to come back someday, including seeing lupins at Lake Tekapo.
