Getting to know the unknown..

A couple of years ago, while I was a kid-teenager at school, I had to travel to my grandparents house to use their old encyclopedias to research for homework. At that time (mid 90’s, early 2000’s) we didn’t have computers, fast internet nor any of the common tools we have today, so we needed to rely on encyclopedias and other similar books to research and know about any topic.

Nowadays we can access the information of mostly anything we want through the internet, with a cellphone or similar devices, and having access to that kind of tools makes us the new “encyclopedias”, because we can gradually add content so others can know anything about any topic they want to learn about. Google Maps gave me a huge opportunity to share with others the places (pictures and reviews) of places, within my country, that people want to know about, and that is what I love to share! People in El Salvador are starting to use Google Maps more and more and this is an awesome way to share.

Years ago I uploaded a picture of a beach to Google Maps (Picture below), picture that was saved on my hard drive for around 6-7 years, and the views started to come. Those numbers made me realize that people was researching on Google Maps about that specific beach, so I uploaded more and the views still kept coming. I also started writing reviews and the questions started to come. Also, had the opportunity to create a Google My Business account for my flight school and with Analytics I realize that people in my country are starting to use Google Maps even more to search, contact, see pictures, and get to know more about any place.

I feel that now I am the encyclopedia company, adding pictures and reviews to this new encyclopedia book called Google Maps. And I am happy to share because I really want to share about my country, the beautiful and awesome places we have, to let people discover places that they didn’t even realize they exist, and get to know more about places somebody told them that they exist.
