US 66 served as a primary route from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California. US 66 was officially removed from the United States Highway System in 1985, after it had been replaced in its entirety by segments of the Interstate Highway System. Portions of the road can still be found along the 2,448 mile stretch of the United States that this route once connected. Now labeled Historic Route 66 or State Route 66, these patches of road provide travelers a chance to step back in time and enjoy “the good old days”. Grew up on 66 in OKC and Luther, Ok. I used to love The Village on 66 in OKC and Miekis on 66 both gone. On 66 in Luther Ok the 116Farmstand is really good for and local joint to just hang out. In Wellston Butcher BBQ stand is delicious. I love to drive down historic 66 in Tulsa too.
