Geelong Railway Station is one among a chain of railway stations that look alike under"the empire on which the sun never sets". Constructed during the second Industrial Revolution on the Port Fairy line, in Victoria, Australia Geelong Railway Station is a Victorian Heritage Property.
Opened on 1 November 1856 during the height of the second industrial revolution, architectural features of the building is very similar to those of Colombo Fort Railway Station, Sri Lanka (then Ceylon), Nairobi Railway Station Kenya and Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.Ramachandran Central Railway Station, Chennai, India (then Madras Central railway station).Geelong Railway Station is one of only two stations in the State of Victoria in Southeast Australia to show off its 19th-century train shed and hence is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.
