Naukot Fort is situated in Tharparkar district Sindh, approx 300 km far from Karachi Pakistan. It was established by Mir Karam Ali Khan Talpur in 1814 AD. Naukot Fort is also known as “Gate way to the Thar desert”. It is roughly square in plan measuring 640x600 feets. The fortification wall of the fort which gives a tapered look has been built using only baked bricks laid in mud mortar. No iron or wood structure was used in making of this fort.
The fort is composed of 9 semi circled bastions, while the 2 of them are protecting the primary entrance, four at the edges and one each at the center of the southern, northern and western walls. A four-meter-wide wall extends on the four sides of the castle. It owns two burnt-brick stairs to climb the wall upwards, from the internal side of the castle. A minor construction like a prison or dungeon is also present.
Weather in this area is very hot in summers (about 40 degree centigrade) and about 10 degree centigrade during winters,. Best time to visit this area is just after rains during September.
