Being a famous mall in Mumbai suburbs, Viviana attracts scores of shoppers daily. Being one of the largest around with a bustling court & numerous restaurants within, the mall generates a lot of garbage.
Viviana has managed to deal with its wet waste from its eateries innovatively. It converts all such garbage into organic manure using an Organic Waste Composter (OWC).
Further, Viviana uses manure from its OWC to grow flowering plants & maintain its landscape.
Visitors to Viviana are offered free sachets of compost in biodegradable bags.
This January, Viviana took it’s waste reduction efforts further. From 24 to 26 January 2020, it created a #ValleyOfFlowers display showcasing 7000 plants grown with manure produced onsite.
During the annual Lord Ganesh festival in 2019, Viviana accepted floral waste from the event to convert to organic manure.
Viviana Mall shows how malls in #India can reduce garbage they send out from their premises. And also has proven the ease of growing plants using manure from the garbage.
