One of the prized exhibits at Gandhi darshan museum, Delhi is a boat associated with famous Dandi Yatra of Gandhi On March 12, 1930 with 79 satyagrahis, Gandhiji began his Historical Dandi march from Sabarmati Ashram. This march of 241 miles further awakened the people of India intensified, the struggle for freedom & shook the foundation of foreign rule was completed in 24 days. This was the boat Gandhiji used to cross the river Mahi at Kankapur.
Another prized exhibit is the Gun Carriage which carried the mortal remains of Mahatma Gandhi from Birla House to Rajghat.
The museum has 274 panels. In Panel no. 1-273 there are photographs on the life of Gandhiji from birth till assassination, there are 1600 photographs approximately. In Panel no. 274 there are 75 stamps from different countries, released on the centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. There are models of Gandhiji’s house at Porbandar in Gujarat, Sabarmati Ashram, and Yervada Jail
The place is located just across the Raj Ghat. Not conventiently located on Metro route, buses, cabs and autos are easily available to the location.
