Since ancient times, humans used to live close to the sources of potable water. Rulers or heads of the community were able to understand the climate changes to conserve the rain water they were cautious and built the artificial water bodies in the form of lakes, tanks, well etc. Gaib Sagar is one such beautiful artificial lake which is located in Dungarpur. At the time of these natural disasters, the essential needs of human and other forest life should not suffer, to ensure they have taken remarkable steps and measures which are now our heritage.
This beautiful lake was built by Maharawal Gopinath in 1428 AD and he was also known as Gaipa Rawal so this lake has got the name. This lake is famous for its picturesque and vibrant atmosphere and marvelous surroundings. Colorful species of beautiful birds inhabit the trees at the edges. Tourists like to watch these birds. At the banks Badal Mahal and opposite side is the Shreenath Temple, Udai Bilas Palace etc are located. Close to the Udai Bilas Palace Shiva temple is built in the lake and at one side giant statue of Lord Shiva is erected in the water. Boats are available at Badal Mahal and these colorful boats are like Shikaras of Dal Jheel Srinagar. These boats are solar powered. And boating experience is just awesome through these eco-friendly boats.
It’s a major attraction among the history buffs wanderers soulseekers heritage lovers and bird watchers. Boating is not costly affair as without boating visit remain incomplete.
