I have been enjoying taking pictures for Google maps as a local guide and writing reviews to help people coming to my area and all of this without counting the time I was giving. I was not worried about the amount of pictures taken knowing they would be automatically backed up on Google photos and all of this without space restrictions until the new change of policy. I have decided to stop using the service and may be stop contributing as a local guide. Is this how Google takes care of there fan. Grooming them for free, taking there free time as contributors to improve there service and ditch them once they donβt need the community anymore?
I am very curious about what changes Google will make in the future and wonder what justification can be given to justify not taking care of this community. I now have to spend hours to delete shop fronts and others pictures not related to my personal life to reduce the space taken by my contributions to Google Maps. Thank you to the managers taking this kind of decision!
We are all surprised by the change, and curious to know how Google will manage in the future the photos uploaded in Google maps after June 1st, 2021.
However, what you are doing here is sharing wrong informations, so I am not sure if you are really aware about how the change will happen, or if you are reporting simply what you read around.
Correctly understanding the terms of the change will help us to better know how to manage it.
You actually uploaded 183 photos. Deleting them will be totally useless, because βOnly photos and videos uploaded on or after June 1, 2021, will count toward your quota.β (Source: Upcoming changes to how Google Account storage works ).
But of course you are welcome to remove the around fifteen duplicate photos.
What I am working to is actually the removal of photos stored on Google Drive. I am moving them in Google photo, exactly for the reason that everything uploaded before June first, 2021, will be stored for free.
Please, have a look at what @ErmesT replied to you. Furthermore, I am going to accept his answer as a solution.
PS: I am going to move your post to the How-tos section on Connect, the place where Local Guides share and ask questions related to Google Maps and Connect.
