On Wednesday, 13 March 2024 I visited the Raja Ravi Verma Art Gallery in Pune to appreciate the paintings of the students of renowned artist Vikram Paranjpe.
Besides a great ambiance, the art gallery was impressive in terms of location, parking, and facilities.
The gallery was also spacious and well-illuminated.
The washrooms were conveniently located.
Elevators were available, and ramps provided accessibility for the differently abled.
The art gallery also had various facilities like a cafe area and comfy sofas to take a break and relax.
There were complimentary opportunities for a portrait.
Active local guide from Pune @abhishekpatk and I went to the exhibition together.
We did not forget to take a selfie with the maestro Mr. Vikram Paranjape.
The art gallery is inside the Jawaharlal Nehru Auditorium which is located very conveniently in the heart of Pune city.
There was ample parking available along with an electric charging station for the EVs.
The facilities and the overall quality inside the auditorium were impressive.
The main building was spacious and illuminated with natural light.
Several relief metalworks adorned the main waiting area.
Accessibility
The main entrance was neatly leveled with the street.
Inside the building, many ramps provide complete accessibility for the differently abled.
After the exhibition, I and Abhishek started walking under shady trees towards the famous food joint Joshi Wade Wale.
While walking I noticed the various patterns and designs of the manhole covers installed by Pune Municipal Corporation.
I find these covers and the patterns very interesting and particularly useful to avoid the many distractions on the sidewalks in Pune.
They also provide an opportunity to, as the elders say, watch your steps.
We enjoyed Idli, Wada, Sambhar, SolKadhi, and Lassi at Joshi Wade Wale.
Though Batata-Wada is the staple and famous dish here.
Some people claim that they once discovered an entire, un-cut potato in their Wada
The ambiance was superb, and the location of this food joint was convenient.
The service, however, was average and the taste needed huge improvement since it was far below average.
They also had a conjoined Paan shop, though we did not avail of it.
This food joint is not accessible for the differently abled.
How to Reach
I traveled using the famous PMT bus service whereas Abhishek used the Pune Metro.
PMT provides a 10 km ride for INR 15 = 20 cents and surprisingly the rates are the same for both AC and non-AC buses.
Where to Eat
At Joshi Wade Wale as mentioned above.
