On Saturday, March 19th, I will be co-hosting a fun quiz designed to help you avoid getting suspended from the Local Guides Program. It is a virtual meet-up organized by @Denise_Barlock and @jayasimha78.
I hope to see you there for some enjoyable time with new and old LG friends from around the world. Please use this form to sign up. For the timing in your timezone please see this Facebook event. The Day Light Savings Time is rolling into effect, so please check carefully.
If you never participated in a virtual meetup this is a great place to start. It is very informal and you get to play Jeopardy!
Thank you for this great meet-up idea. Since you and @jayasimha78 submitted the same meet-up on Connect, we will approve Jay’s as it came in first. However, please let us know if you prefer we approved your meet-up instead of Jay’s.
I never had a notice about a review deleted, supended or whatever. I wrote 16 by now and only when one person could not find one of them anymore he had seen before after I had added a sentence found out only 7 show up public. The rest is hidden, but I get “thank you” mails for them, from Google, get points as a local guide for them and am asked to write more reviews.
In opposite what is said here a sIort 6 words review gets public, a long one rarely does.
No idea what the problem is as I always get a “thank you for your review it is published, write more”, even for those who are not public.
This does not make sense to me. Still algorithm problems?
Thank you for organizing this fun event, and for your invitation to play on Saturday March 19th.
Learning how not to get suspended can be helpful education for us, and certainly would be crucial information to any LG who may be struggling with compliance to Google’s Local Guide guidelines/policy.
This event is a wonderful fun idea that I’m looking forward to, and with MortenCopenhagen’s tutorial, they compliment each other nicely. As you say, this event offers the opportunity to participate in learning, and to meet fellow LGs from around the world.
I have not been suspended, but, I have had the gratifying experience of being a source of help to at least 2 fellow Local Guides who were suspended, and fortunately, those suspensions were resolved in their favor.
Thanks MortenCopenhagen for this post, and the study links within.
What you are experiencing is partly automatically generated encouragements to continue contributing and a system to prevent spam on Google Maps. And the two systems are not connected.
The spam filter is not very polite. You will not get notified when a photo or review gets hidden. This is probably to avoid helping spammers with ill-intentions.
On Saturday we will not be able to address your problems specifically, but you will be able to learn more about hidden contributions.
@MortenCopenhagen I’ve signed up and looking forward to the challenge! I hope I don’t fail that badly but looking forward to learning more about the topic! Thanks for doing this with @Denise_Barlock and @jayasimha78
I’m now ready for the quiz in a few hours with a printed version of the questions to make the session flow smoothly.
Also, I would like to suggest that if you have questions related to any of the quiz-questions while we play, you can share them in the chat. Later I will try to answer them in the recap. But please make sure you refer to one of the questions:
