Full Moon

Full Moon Captured on a Phone with the help of a Zoom lens. Next time I would want to capture with a Telescope.

During the Lunar eclipse, though the color change was not visible in India, the full moon was equally beautiful and felt very near. I was traveling in a local train and it felt like the moon was playing hide n seek with humans. Hiding behind the towers and peek at times.

Few Tips to remember while capturing moon with a phone camera,

1. Try to find a good Zoom lens that can be clipped to the lens.

2. Get a gorilla pod or tripod for support as the zoom lens are heavy and even a slight shake would make the whole image blurry.

3. Adjust the focus manually to the moon for crisp output.

4. Keep the ISO around 250-500 depending on the sensor size, lower than that it might be difficult to focus.

5. Keep the shutter speed lower than 1/250 and set at least 3sec timer for capture to avoid any blur.

6. Enjoy the process.

Hi @Venky_lightbug ,

This is brilliant! How did you manage to capture this by phone only? Which phone did you use? I have never managed to take a moon photo with my phone, but I’ll follow your tips next time. Did it take a long time to get the perfect shot?

Hi @DanniS

Thanks a lot.

I was having the same experience as you earlier. Having an understanding about the limitations of the phone camera, I took help of external clip on lens for achieving this.

Yes it took around 15 min to setup and get a good shot. Perfect shot is still pending

By the way I used Oneplus 6T. All the best for your attempt

Hi @Venky_lightbug ,

Amazing photo of the moon! Thanks a lot for the description!

It’s an amazing explanation of how can we capture the moon! I’ve never tried it. Was it hard for you?

Great! @Venky_lightbug for sure additional lenses help, but it’s quite impressive from the phone as well. Do you take photos regularly?

Thank u @PoliMC

It’s never hard if you love something. I look forward to such situations where I put some effort to capture rather than random clicking

But yes, our terrace is not made for humans, so it was a bit tough
