does being featured as the first pic on google maps make your views go all the way up and now they have taken it away people can’t seem to find it anymore?
Hi @jackson
I’m not sure what you mean by taken away. Anyways, being selected ad the cover photos (the first image of a place on Google Maps) will ensure you a lot more views than normal. Featured means “Among the first 10 photos” while “Featured as #1” = having the Cover photo.
Let me know if you want more details. Or take a look at my Storefront Photography series here. You can learn how to make better photos for Google Maps and how to get more photo views.

my featured pic of walt disney world has been stuck around 59 million for the past two three months. while i don’t expect it to always be the first one it doesn’t seem to generate any more views. and when i was in the leaderboards people kept telling me they couldn’t see it making it seem like i was lying
@jackson It would appear that your photo views are not increasing as a result of your photo being hidden. There are a number of reasons that photos are hidden, so I can’t say as to why. However, if you look at your profile it shows a greater number of photos than your photo contribution page. That means you have hidden photos.
Here is a link to appeal your hidden contributions : Appeal Form
Hi @jackson
It would be very helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply. Just hitting Reply does not ensure we get notified by email.
Something is going on with your profile. From my desktop there is no number shown for the number of public photos, which is unusual. You seem to have 59.609.741 views, which is not attributed to your most viewed photo only, but the sum of all your photos.
Currently, your most viewed photo is from Peppa Pig Theme park.
I will take a look at your profile from my phone also. And I will add further comments if anything shows up.
Cheers

Hello again, @jackson
From my mobile I’m able to see that 446 of your photos are public. So with 516 added photos and videos a total of 70 of your photos were made private.
Currently, your most viewed photo has only 450.000 views.
You can try the form suggested by @Mikeinthefalls above.
Best of luck
Morten
Do you still see your Disney photo in your Photo contribution list?
If not is was taken down by Google manually. Normally, hidden pics will remain in your photo contribution list.
Cheers
Morten
I think my continued investigation is starting to pay off. I did a reverse image search of your Star Photo posted here.
And this is what what I get:
Also, these websites seems to be using your photo:
Looking at the cloud formations it looks very much to be the same photo. Eighter you are a rich photographer earning good royalties from your very popular photo or could it be that the photo was not taken by you?
Let us know what you think is happening here.

@Mikeinthefalls thanks so much for the appeal it helps a ton ! didn’t know that some of my most viewed once aren’t available
@MortenCopenhagen i wish i was a rich photographer but im not. i did take the pic wednesday july 13 2022 and uploaded it later to maps. i never knew these websites were using my picture. could you also send me a link to them?
@jackson always glad to help. I’ve had Featured photos hidden before, I know the frustration! Best of luck. If not, you still have to appreciate the awesome run your photo had ![]()
@MortenCopenhagen It appears that all those sites are linking to the Google Maps page for Walt Disney World and utilizing the Cover Photo from Maps. When you visit the sites, most give credit to Google Maps and Jackson_P. There are quite a number of sites that link to WDW which is another reason the #1 photo receives the number of views that it does.
@jackson If you’re using Chrome, you can do a Right Click on your image and choose ‘Search image with Google’ to pull up all similar shots.
Unless a stock photographer was standing over your shoulder at the very moment you took that picture, it would sure seem that these sites have borrowed your shot. As @MortenCopenhagen pointed out, the clouds and lighting are too similar to suggest the image isn’t the same.
