From Engines to Space: My fascinating experience at Visvesvaraya Museum, Bengaluru

Hello LGs,

My recent March 9, 2025, visit to the Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM) in Bengaluru was truly remarkable! This visit was part of our beloved @TravellerG sir’s Mega Meet-up, which brought together enthusiastic guidesfrom different states of India.

This museum is named for Sir M. Visvesvaraya, a Bharat Ratna awardee and visionary engineer. It is a must-visit for all ages and science and techno enthusiasts. The exhibits on mechanics, electronics, space, biotechnology, and even ancient Indian science spread over four floors. Interactive experiments in the Fun Science gallery piqued interest and were a true delight. The display of evolution of machines and technologies over the years is a treat to watch and bundles of information for us.

The exhibits were kept in good condition by the museum staff, guaranteeing an engaging and educational experience. Everything from the miniature planetarium to a life-size model of the Wright brothers’ flyer had something to interest guests of all ages.

Over all, this visit was both enlightening and incredibly motivating. I strongly advise anyone traveling to Bengaluru to check out this museum!

Note: The ticket for all ages is Rs 95.00 (approximate $ 1.10) and may vary for schools andorganized tours bythe government. Please check on their site before as per your requirement and book in advance as well.

The landmarks nearby:

Museum of Art & Photography (MAP)

This is a dream place for every science and technology enthusiast.

I have been here several times before yet it is a refreshing experience on every visit.

Also, this place is special for me since this was the first one I searched for on Google Maps in 2017 when living in Bengaluru :globe_showing_americas:

Yes, @TusharSuradkar , we enjoyed the tea at the terrace as well. I had also visited earlier, almost 10 years ago, with my son, but this time, I had a different perspective on it, as a local guide.

Hi @rahul001rahul

Regarding your planetarium visit, there is a recent post about this topic by Dr. @K.K.Sharma

You can respond to that post as well with your planetarium photos.
