I’m Josselyn Jauregui, a peruvian woman, an anthropologist and specially a traveler. For me that means discovering different places, feeling the adventure in my skin, meeting new cultures, languages, music and people too.
Most of the time I traveled by my own, without paying for any touristic agency. Hence, I try to plan my trips, so I can enjoy them to the max.
When I pick my next destination, I start surfing on the web looking for recommendations from other travelers. Then, I use Google Maps to search specific information of the different places I’ll visit like restaurants or bars. I really enjoy those moments! I also read reviews and watch the pictures on them. Finally, with all these information, I choose the places I will definitely visit.
In my trips, I love writing reviews and sharing my opinions on Google maps. I focus on my impression of the place, the number of activities you can do there, the kind of transportation to use, the time and the prices – cheapest ones are my specialty - trying to give the readers well summarized information. For example, I remember that I began using Google maps more often when I traveled to Egypt. I proposed myself I’ll write reviews in Spanish to help the Latin American community because many of the reviews were in English or in Arabic. So, every restaurant, candy shop, bar, supermarket, malls, historical or traditional places I visited I wrote them in Spanish.I’m very grateful to remember that I won a scholarship in my government to study in Egypt. I lived there for almost one year and I didn’t imagine that a place so far from my country (Peru) will be like a second home, places like Dahab and the Sinai are always on my mind. The beaches, the time learning scuba diving, the emotion of exploring the deep red sea are unforgettable experiences. So, when I returned to my country, I still think and miss my time living on Dahab. Nevertheless, life had other plans, and now I found a job in another heavenly place: The Amazonian Jungle.
From desert to jungle, from beach to river, from Pyramids to millenary trees I wrote about all these places as a local guide on Google Maps, and the stories I live and write belong to anyone who wants to receive them.
Thank you so much Google Maps for giving me this space to share my most valuable experiences.
