Hello, my name is Rohit Shaw I’m 25 years old. I live in a small village called “Dhalbhumgarh” in Jharkhand, India. I’m a photographer by profession. I’m going to share my story about how the #LocalGuides program impacted my life. I started photography as hobbies in 2017 and I am a backpacker also I frequently used to travel a lot I always use Google maps whether it is finding the best places around, best places to eat or view reviews of places.
One day I came to know about the Local Guides program where we have the advantage to add places of missing place or more feature which only a local guide does. So immediately I joined this community on the 28th of April 2018.
I just bought a DSLR a few months ago before joining the Local Guides. I started taking pictures as much as I can, photography is something I can’t live without so I got a reason for daily practice to build my skills. Gradually my photos getting better with times while I also helped thousands of peoples with my photos which I have posted on Google maps. I started reading the photography post on #LocalGuidesConnect. My reviews and photos making difference to people’s lives, it is not only impacted peoples which I helped it is also impacted me and my life. Day by day I used to get better with my photography skills. I started posting my photos on Instagram, one day I got photography assignments and I got paid. I can’t tell you how happy I was getting assignments and getting paid people started loving my work. From that day till today I regularly get assignments for photography and now I became a professional photographer and giving service. I can proudly say I’m a self-learned photographer with the help of Google Maps. I can’t thank you enough #GoogleMaps.
I love this community. I love how my reviews and contribution helps thousands. Recently my photos got more than 10 Lakhs views in total and still increasing day by day. I feel proud to be part of this community.
Thank you so much,
