It could be debated that Tokyo has caught up to the rest of the culinary world, even surpassing it to some extent. The refinement of sushi and washoku cuisine has revolutionized the food world, but not only that, the locals here have been experimenting with Western food for decades, and one dish, in particular, is the Belgium french fry or frite. Even the Ambassador of Belgium visited this restaurant and gave it her seal of approval just recently. I too have enjoyed eating them, but by far this is the best and most authentic restaurant to have them.

This time I was able to enjoy imports from Bruges, like the “Zot Blonde” and "Straffe Hendrik Triple! " with my frites. The beers are all imported and in limited quantity.

The dips for tonight were the traditional Belgium andalouse sauce. Then there are the limited house specials like sour cream and uncured ham fig, garlic avocado, and avocado mayonnaise. There is a wasabi version, too. Truly a one of a kind experience and must be had on your next visit to Japan.

Hello @JanVanHaver

It’s good to hear from you. There are several other places around Tokyo claiming to be authentic, but this place nails it. The outside of the fry is crispy and the inside is soft and flavorsome. I’m just wondering though…Is your Belgium famous for beef stews, too?

That is indeed the most famous thing to eat with fries over here, and we all it ‘stoofvlees’ in Dutch @user_not_found

Hi @JanVanHaver

Not sure if I mentioned this but the potato variety used here in Japan are from Hokkaido called Kita Akari, and are highly prized in Japan. They are a little sweet.

Is there a special variety of potato used in your country?

There are several varieties sold very widely here @user_not_found , but the name is not always mentioned. Some do have the text on the packaging that they are very well suited to make fries :grinning:

@JanVanHaver I will do some homework and find out because I absolutely love potato varietals. @NareshDarji and @Marichams might know.
