Friends call me a Google Maps girl … Here is my Goggle Maps story. What’s yours?

I’m not a cat or dog lady… I’m a Google Maps girl. I use Google maps as my travel hack. I do my research by using Google Maps when planning my trips. It could be an outing 10km away from the house or it could be my next trip to Canada.

I’m not only using it, I believe sharing back/giving back to users is important and helps other people to plan their holidays/trips out.

Is this place nice? Is this beach accessible? Is there a playground or park for kids activities?

My favorite Google Maps sharing way are photos. One photo can tell you a lot about the place. I try to make high quality pictures with opening hours, prices and the information which might be helpful to the next tourist like me.

I have uploaded 975 photos and they were viewed a staggering 4.307,378 times. Yay! It shows you that your info helps someone.

I’m currently exploring video sharing technique and improving my videos after my Krispy Kreme video got 3.000 views… Wait, it’s 13.000 already.

As well, I’m passionate about helping local businesses to get the most of the Google Maps. Some of them don’t realize the power of a good listing, correct information and good photos.

A while ago when I have moved into my area, I went on a Google Maps photo spree and made a lot of pictures of the local amenities. Who would think that my local Chinese takeaway would have 300.000 views?

Recently, I told my hairdresser that she was marked as a movie maker and after that we’ve totally revamped her listing with the correct phone number and correct website.

Same applies for my local chipper (in Ireland we call a place where you can get fries and other stuff). Someone changed their working hours. Now they know about it.

I’ve recently started a traveling blog called Robingoesplaces for parents with kids. I believe that we should not stop traveling when we have kids. We should follow our dreams. All is possible. Just need a bit more planning with Google Maps.

What about you? How did you discover Google Maps? How are you using it? Please share your favorite ways of discovering things on Google Maps.

Hugs from Ireland.
