Every Friday, Google Moderators highlight the best posts they found to celebrate the amazing discoveries Local Guides like you are sharing on Connect. These are posts detailing past experiences that we hope will serve as entertainment and inspiration for your future bucket list. This week, visiting beehives, mapping rural roads, and more.
@TsekoV : This week, the post that caught my attention was @Marichams ’s “Agritourism: visiting the bees of Dajabon, Dominican Republic.” Agritourism is about visiting farms, ranches, and other agricultural businesses to learn about the land and animals and take part in different activities. Maricha went to Dajabon, Dominican Republic, to tour their famous apiaries or the places where beehives are kept. I liked how her post starts with the reasons why she decided to visit the bees, highlighting the insects’ importance for the whole world. She shares what it feels like to hold these fuzzy little animals in your hand and what they mean for the locals. If you wish to go on a bee tour or you’ve already done so, don’t miss to tell Maricha under her post.
@Giu_DiB : Every week on Connect, we enjoy the many benefits of being part of this global family. We discover new places, exchange tips, and learn about the meaningful initiatives Local Guides start around the world. That’s why I loved @AnshukMitra ’s story “Connecting Rural India - 2.” Anshuk is on a mission to map the roads in rural areas in India, something that can help entire communities. In his post, we learn that he recently completed the second leg of that mission by traveling to Southern Rajasthan and covering over ten villages. Do you want to follow his journey, too? Then read about his inspiring initiative, Connecting Rural India, and stay tuned for the next post.
@AngieYC : Are you always on the lookout for travel gems to add to your bucket list? I am, and I found one in @Smita_Patil ’s post “Ladakh - Pride of India.” In it, she shares her experience of traveling to and around Ladakh, a unique destination in India due to its high altitude and many unusual sights. Her post is divided into sections, making it easier to follow her journey. It’s packed with helpful information about the region, documents you may need to visit, and more. Smita tells us about how she prepared for the extreme change in altitude and the most memorable places she saw. And Ladakh seems to be a place that’s equally beautiful to see and interesting to experience! If you enjoy this post, visit Smita’s profile on Connect to read more about her travel adventures in India.
