Every Friday, Googlers round up some of the best posts they came across during the week to celebrate the amazing discoveries Local Guides like you are sharing on Connect. This week, the Forest Research Institute, a weekend in Minsk, and more.
@DanniS : In his post “Forest Research Institute, Dehradun,” Local Guide @Niputiwari takes us on a tour around the campus of the prestigious Forest Research Institute inDehradun, India. @Niputiwari tells us about the history of the institute and the educational programs it offers and gives us some interesting facts about the campus, which was even used as a setting for several Bollywood movies. The purpose of the research institute is to organise, direct, and manage research and education in the forestry sector, which I found really interesting and inspiring.
@KatyaL : The post I really enjoyed reading this week was written by Local Guide @Ant_Bad_Yogi and is titled “See you again - Mount Hakkoda #DeepJapan.” In it, @Ant_Bad_Yogi talks about one of the most popular mountains for skiers in Aomori Prefecture, Japan—Mount Hakkoda. He gives useful information about the activities people can enjoy there, such as hiking, going to a hot spring, and visiting the acidic pond Jigokunuma. Being a mountain lover myself, I find @Ant_Bad_Yogi’s landscape photos absolutely beautiful—they make me want to visit Japan even more!
@PoliMC : My favorite post this week is the amazing “#TeamBelarus, Weekend in Minsk” by @katydarhel . In it, @katydarhel shares that she used to live in Minsk, Belarus before but when she returned to the city for a weekend after three years, she was surprised by how different the rhythm and atmosphere were. She gives recommendations on where to go, what to see, which bars and restaurants to try out if you have just a weekend in the beautiful capital of Belarus. If you’re planning a trip to Minsk, make sure to check out @katydarhel’s list of interesting activities!
@sonnyNg : My pick for this week is @NicolasVillamorG ’s post “CINEMATECA BOGOTA.” I found it interesting to learn about this Cultural Center of Audiovisual Arts in Bogota, Colombia, which aims to not only preserve the cinematic heritage of the country but also to create new audiovisual materials. The place is open to the public and visitors can go to the Media Library, take part in a workshop, or join the special organised tour.
