@InaS: Do you like long walks in the forest during autumn? @MariaJoseBlazquez introduces us to an interesting place close to Madrid, called La Hiruela. In her post, “Rutas de Senderismo en La HIRUELA,” she describes in detail the different hiking routes you can take from there. Her vivid photos of nature caught my attention, while her story became one of my favorites. Without a doubt, La Hiruela seems like a bucket list destination with amazing views for the whole family.
@KlaudiyaG: Local Guide @davo_dw recently decided to take us on a journey to discover Kangaroo Island in Australia. His post, “Kangaroo Island - The Island full of Kangaroos,” shows the diverse wildlife on the island and the natural beauties that Australia has to offer. One of the reasons why he returned to this magical place 20 years after his last visit was to support the local businesses there that were affected by the bushfires earlier this year, along with the park. @DeniGu: Connect Moderator @AdrianLunsong recently announced his unofficial Community Live 2020 virtual event, organized by Connect Moderators for the Local Guides community. Shortly after that, a variety of challenges were introduced on Connect, including the Community Photo Challenge, which encourages Local Guides to share the best photo they have added on Maps this year. Among the many great submissions, I quite enjoyed @lajnhart’s “#CommunityPhotoChallenge : ZELENCI NATURE PRESERVE/Slovenia.” It feels like the vibrant colors of their photo can brighten not only the gloomy days but can add extra brightness to the sunny ones as well! @lajnhart’s story of why they chose that photo from the Zelenci Nature Reserve in Slovenia is also moving. @Ivi_Ge: I was touched by @EmekaUlor’s post, “Surprised by Accessibility: Lego Ramps.” He tells us the story of Rita Ebel, a wheelchair user from Germany, who makes portable LEGO ramps for public buildings in her hometown, proving that the famous bricks are perfect for more than just playing. La Comunidad de Madrid está rodeada de sierras y montañas extraordinarias, pero quizá esta bella población es una de mis preferidas, sobre todo en otoño, donde todo se tiñe de una atmósfera especial. De nuevo gracias y si alguien se anima a visitar Madrid, no tiene mas que indicarmelo y estaré encantada de poder ayudar.

Friday Favorites is always a favorite of mine @DeniGu and this one is no exception. Congratulations to all selected Local Guides. I did see @user_not_found 's Rutas de Senderismo en La HIRUELA post and loved her photos. The devastating Australian bushfires earlier this year caused a lot of damage and killed an enormous, in fact many, many millions of wildlife and Kangaroo Island was hit particularly hard. The post by @davo_dw is a great read.
