Friday Favorites: Japanese gardens, activities in South Africa, and more

Every Friday, Googlers round up some of the best posts they came across during the week to celebrate the amazing discoveries Local Guides like you are sharing on Connect. This week, Japanese gardens, activities in South Africa, and more.

@Ivi_Ge : Have you ever been to Japan? Or do you like Japanese culture? If your answer is yes, I am sure that you will like the post “Historic Gardens of Akita Prefecture, Japan(Part1)” by @preceramic . He shared with us the amazing beauty of one Japanese garden - Akita Prefecture. In his post you will find changing scenery reflecting the seasons and the ancient and honorable history. I suggest having a look at this post!

@JavieraAu :I don’t know about you, but I have a travel bucket list where I collect all the places that I want to visit. In it, South Africa is listed at the top 5. That’s probably one of the reasons why @alexandradias 's post, “Uma viagem pela Africa do Sul,” caught my attention this week. Her post can take you to an amazing daily trip to Cape Town. She shared some various activities and interesting places that you should have in mind when visiting. If you have always dreamed of visiting this land of wonders, just like me, do not miss to read @alexandradias ’s post.

@PoliMC : My favourite post for this week is the amazing “Wooden sculptures at the End of the World” written by @Avraham_Jurado . In it, he describes how local artists and people from Argentina create wooden sculptures made from lenga trees and how they create the different shapes from this wood. If you are interested in such artwork, don’t miss this post.

@LilyanaZ :With fall currently unravelling, my choice this week has to be @GoldenPapa 's post “Highest Mountain in South Korea Taebaek Range - SEORAKSAN.” There is some real magic in the Korean fall scenery, and that, as well as the love for hiking, are probably the reasons for Seoraksan to be such a popular destination to enjoy the foliage and nature’s mesmerizing fall colours. There is some peace and serenity, also brought by the temples and Buddha statues, so make sure you put Seoraksan as a must-visit item in your travel planner.

Tell us about some of the best posts you’ve read on Connect lately and be sure to keep an eye out next week to see if one of your posts is selected for Friday Favorites! You can check out last week’s Friday Favorites here.

Hello @PoliMC @Ivi_Ge Thank you for your introduction.
Congratulations on continuous pickup @preceramic ! Your photos are exceptionally beautiful in an active Japanese Local Guide I know. I think the ultra-wide-angle format lens is indispensable for the photos required for Google Maps. I hope it will continue to be a model for ultra-wide-angle photography.

Dear, ( @YasumiKikuchi )

Thank you very much for your kind message.

The size and scales of places of scenic beauty as historic gardens are large so we have to take photos using ultra-wide-angle lenses. I took these shots by using Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 7-14mm and LEICA DG VARIO ELMARIT 12-60mm. These lenses are good for shooting historic gardens.

Yours, Sincerely
