Every Friday, Google Moderators highlight the best posts they found to celebrate the amazing discoveries Local Guides like you are sharing on Connect. These are posts detailing past experiences that we hope will serve as entertainment and inspiration for your future bucket list. This week, exploring Atlántida, editing the map in Australia, and more.
@Bobiisha : The post I loved this week is “Un dia en Atlántida” by Local Guide @CAAG1959 . In it, he tells us about a quick getaway from the Uruguayan capital Montevideo to a nearby town called Atlántida. The Local Guide takes us on a stroll along the coast, and we get to see all kinds of local attractions. There are natural places like beaches and fishing spots, buildings shaped like ships and eagles, and even an exhibition under the open sky! The great photos in the post also give us a glimpse of the colors and diversity of Atlántida. If you wish to feel the calm of one of the first fine days of spring in Uruguay, make sure to check out @CAAG1959 ’s post.
@DeniGu : It’s always amazing to see how Local Guides make a difference around the world through their contributions. While on holiday, @PaulPavlinovich used the opportunity to update the map in and around three towns in Australia. In his post, “What does a Guiding Star do when on Holidays? Edit Maps of course ,” Paul sets a great example to follow: he reported spam locations, added small local businesses, and checked the attributes of existing ones. My favorite story was the one about Spuds, a roadside stand where farmers sell their produce. Paul not only added the place on Google Maps but also got some delicious potatoes to bring home! Read more about his Local Guides adventures in his post.
@LilyanaZ : “Discover “La fête des voisins” - a citizens’ neighbourhood party” is my favorite post this week. @Melissa_Langlois shows us the meaning of community by organizing a neighborhood party (following all sanitary rules and guidelines) in her area. She brought everyone together in a fun door decoration contest that put smiles on the faces of people walking by. Everything Melissa needed for the party—from snacks to participation prizes—was thoughtfully chosen and came from small local businesses. Don’t miss her heartwarming post if you’re looking for inspiration to bring your local community together in a safe way!
