Friday Favorites: a travel guide to Indonesia, exploring Chinatown, and more

Every Friday, Googlers round up some of the best posts they came across during the week to celebrate the amazing discoveries Local Guides like you are sharing on Connect. This week, a travel guide to Indonesia, exploring Chinatown, and more.

@MortenSI : This week I stumbled upon “How to see Indonesia in a day” by Local Guide @RahmatHarmanP and I have to say, this is the post I always wish I’d known about. Indonesia is one of the countries I want to visit the most, but whenever I start thinking about what to see and where to go, I give up because it feels so overwhelming. This post gives you the tips you need to visit Jakarta and really feel like you’ve experienced a bit of everything. If you are thinking about travelling to Jakarta, check out this post for some great tips!

@AlexaAC : The Go Loco Podcast is an unofficial podcast for Local Guides created by @AdrianLunsong. The Connect post “Go Loco Podcast - Episode 5 (promo)” caught my eye this week because it focuses on International Women’s Day on March 8th. I enjoyed the fresh outlook and interactive experience created for fellow Local Guides. Significant questions on how women are portrayed in current media and suggestions to make the world safer for women on Google Maps make this episode extra special. Be sure to watch this space for the upcoming episode 5!

@Petra_M : This week, “Explore Miniature Cafe in Bangkok Chinatown”written by @SunPanupong caught my attention. He shares an amazing story about his trip to Chinatown in Bangkok. I’m in love with Asian food, and his photos are absolutely mouthwatering. More than that, though, this post is an excellent example of the types of stories we love to see on Connect. It’s informative, interesting, and filled with great photos that help tell the story of @SunPanupong ’s experience in Chinatown. If you enjoy discovering new places and opened for different tastes, I highly recommend this one!

@sonnyNg : This week, I enjoyed reading “The People’s Cafe.” In it, we get a great breakdown of each of the dishes Local Guide @Velvel tried at this restaurant with a friend. With detailed descriptions and great photos of each dish, this post is a perfect example of what we love to see on the Food & Drink board. If you’re a foodie, you’ll definitely feel inspired reading it!

Tell us about some of the best posts you’ve read on Connect lately and be sure to keep an eye out next week to see if one of your posts is selected for Friday Favorites! You can check out last week’s Friday Favorites here.

Really cool update! Thanks for bringing this great article to my attention! I like how detailed @RahmatHarmanP 's post about Taman Mini was, I always recommend it to friends visiting Jakarta and will be using it from now on as a reference! Since you mentioned you would like to come to Indonesia but find it overwhelming to find a good list of places, maybe you’d like to check out my maps list of truly incredible remote places that are not hard to get to from Jakarta! Here’s the link to it, in case anyone is interested: https://goo.gl/maps/CvGudq4GN2s Let me know if anyone would like a more detailed post about the topic and I’ll try to put it together! =)
