Every Friday, Google Moderators round up some of the best posts they came across during the week to celebrate the amazing discoveries Local Guides like you are sharing on Connect. This week, a meet-up in Portugal, a temple in China, and more.
@DeniGu: Have you heard of or visited the Pushkar Fair? It’s a traditional horse and camel market held annually in Pushkar, India, which Local Guide @DrunkenChimp attended for the third time this November. In his post “Pushkar - A Culture in itself,” he tells us more about what you can see, do, and eat at the Pushkar Fair. But that’s not all! He’s also sharing his amazing photos that wonderfully capture the various aspects and moods of this Indian market. I’m already planning a visit, how about you?
@FelipePK: My choice for this week is @Patriciapraca’s fantastic post “RECAP: Accessible Funchal.” Inspired by the World Accessibility Walk 2019 campaign, Patricia hosted a meet-up in Madeira Island, Portugal, in celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The attending Local Guides went to one of the biggest shopping malls in Funchal to check its accessibility features and take some helpful photos. They were impressed with how accessible the place was. There was even a temporary ramp being provided for wheelchair users who wish to visit the house of Santa Claus that was set up on one of the floors. Honestly, I was looking forward to reading this recap ever since I saw the meet-up announcement!
@InaS: Have you ever participated in a volunteer project? If so, I’m sure you will enjoy reading the post “International Volunteer Day: Share your voluntary works” by @RafsanRana. In it, Rafsan tells us about his volunteer experience and the reasons why he loves doing what he does. From helping children receive a good education to contributing to Google Maps, this post is very motivational and inspirational.
@TsekoV: A story that grabbed my attention this week was @Hasmik’s post “An untold story of a cosy #Temple somewhere in #China.” As travelling plays a very important role in my life, I enjoyed reading this post and learning more about how other people perceive the idea of travelling. This is also an intriguing story about a temple complex in a small town in Shandong Province, China, that you can discover with just a click!
Tell us about some of the best posts you’ve read on Connect lately and be sure to keep an eye out next week to see if one of your posts is selected for Friday Favorites! You can check out last week’s Friday Favorites here.
