Every Friday, Google Moderators highlight the best posts they found to celebrate the amazing discoveries Local Guides like you are sharing on Connect. These are posts detailing past experiences that we hope will serve as entertainment and inspiration for your future bucket list. This week, a Local Guide’s superpower, a temple in Kyoto, and more.
@DeniGu: While we might have slowed down when it comes to traveling, @Marichams is one of those Local Guides who is still actively contributing on Google Maps. In her post, “My superpower? I’m an active Local Guide!,” she tells us about how she uses her time at home to leave supportive reviews of local businesses, add up-to-date 360-degree images of her city, and make edits to places she visited before. Maricha realizes the extent of her impact on how Google Maps users make decisions about where to go. And she wonders, have you used your Local Guides superpowers lately? Make sure to let her know in the comments here or under her post.
@sonnyNg: Let’s take a trip to Kyoto, Japan, and learn more about one UNESCO World Heritage Site from Local Guide @nakashi. In his post, “晴れた日に行きたい京都のお寺 龍安寺,” he shows us around Ryoanji Temple. From 15th-century Japan architecture to the history of that period, to a glimpse into Japanese culture, this post has it all. Just go ahead and immerse yourself in the extraordinary experience that that temple provides through @nakashi’s photos and narrative.
@MoniV: I was really impressed by @Lusianaa’s post, “The Exotic Pink Beach of Komodo Island.” In it, she introduces one of her favorite beaches in Indonesia, the Pink Beach, and shares some gorgeous photos from there. I recommend reading her post, as you will learn more about where this wonderful beach is located, how to get there, and how it got so pink.
@AlexaAC: This week, @NW_du_Toit’s post about “Hiking around Worcester, South Africa in Winter” was pure nostalgia for me. It made me reminisce about the spectacular nature in South Africa. He takes us on a hiking journey through the beautiful Western Cape, where open grasslands are covered in indigenous flora, rolling mountain hills seem endless, and crystal clear skies top off this picture-perfect walk. I hope you enjoy the scenery, and I recommend putting this particular region in South Africa on your bucket list.
