Every Friday,Google Moderatorshighlight the best posts they found to celebrate the amazing discoveries Local Guides like you are sharing on Connect. These are posts detailing past experiences that we hope will serve as entertainment and inspiration for your future bucket list. This week, a cacti garden, celebrating World Chess Day, and more.
@KlaudiyaG: The post that made an impression on me this week was @bmuu’s post, “Let’s make it a BIG chess day!.” It reminded me of the good old days when I used to play chess with my grandfather. Chess is a beneficial pastime for a lot of different reasons, some of which you can find in his post. The post is incredibly well-written and is a great read for everyone who is passionate about chess. Adam also made sure to include posts by other Local Guides who are chess players or just enjoy guiding others where to play chess in their area.
@TsekoV: This week, while browsing through different amazing posts by Local Guides on Connect, the title of @ChanneLing’s post caught my attention. “3 Ramens You Can’t Resist Even in Summer” made me curious about what types of ramen are suitable for the summer season. As I love Asian cuisine, I enjoyed the mouthwatering photos and the helpful descriptions of the dishes she shared. If you are also into ramen and you are looking to try something new this summer, don’t hesitate to check out this post.

@KlaudiyaG thank you for sharing this and congratulation to all LGs’ posts. You deserve appreciation and I actually came across all of the posts. It is a wonderful community here
Thanks again to @KarenVChin for giving me the opportunity to discover that amazing garden. What I did was just to shot a (LOT OF) photo, and to write the post. I will never forget that day, especially now that we are celebrating friendship
Oh I’m truly stoked and honored @KlaudiyaG , my first time ever to be selected for Friday Favorites but of course the competition is just so tough here on Connect and the standard that fellow Local Guides set is very high. I enjoyed writing the post but what I loved most was the engagement and discussion that it fleshed out including the great mention by @ErmesT of the chess square in Marostica where every two years the pieces are humans, fascinating! Congratulations to all other featured Local Guides.
Well then, congratulation is in order, @AdamGT ! To be honest, it’s really hard to select one post, as like you said there are a lot of wonderful publications posted every week on Connect. That being said, you really deserve it, so enjoy it to the fullest.
@KlaudiyaG I really do enjoy my time here. So many things to learn and what is more just like @AdamGT mentioned earlier, the communication and ideas exchange between us, LGs and moderators are really really exciting. I feel very motivated and also touched by the support from the community. We are here for each other . I even know who I should talk to in a particular topic like nature and botany is @ErmesT speciality. Adam is for architecture and Global guiding, and @PaulPavlinovich is for everything
@KlaudiyaG@Giu_DiB@ErmesT – thanks for tagging me. Happy to see Ermes’ post get featured in Friday Favorites.
The interesting thing about the Bay Area is that there different gardens for different tastes or interests. There are traditional, touristy world-famous places to visit, such as Golden Gate Park. But there are places like Bancroft Gardens that were started by people who have a passion for a particular type of gardening, such as water conservation gardening (cacti and succulents).
What fascinates me about this garden, is that it is curated. You can see and buy plants that are native to Africa, Saudi Arabia, South America, etc in less than a 5-acre garden in the middle of a residential neighborhood.
Talking about great post, on these days I read many post of the LG @MaxWalsh and I enjoyed so much specially one of them: NORTHERN-LIGHTS-IN-TROMSO, NORWAY if you’re thinking or dreaming (as I do) to see the Northern Lights you should check Max’s post. Is a mixture of the most complet travel guide and a the storyline of a dreamer traveler. I loved it!
@KlaudiyaG Thank you!!! @Kwiksatik and I are having so much fun with learning more about all the states! It’s been quite the evolution and so glad that other Local Guides around the world are enjoying this challenge as well!
It is always nice to see “The favorite of Friday”, many times we miss many interesting posts, and here you give us a hand to read some @KlaudiyaG
Thanks @SilvyC for recommending my recent post on the auroras.
I’m not even surprise, @Denise_Barlock . The recaps sounds like a lot of fun, not to mention the conversation happening below the recaps themselves. It’s wonderful to see the community growing and getting more united. You both played a really big part in making this happen, so thank you.
You are so sweet, @And12-X2 . Thank you so much for the lovely words! I’m happy to hear that you feel this way. By the way, it’s all thanks to our wonderful community.
