freedom of speech on Google map.

Hello!
At the locations: of the Solovetsky Stone https://maps.app.goo.gl/tzceE67SvqHrmPJN8
and the Wall of Sorrow https://maps.app.goo.gl/VB8Vs8JjV8jH5Gn87 (these are all monuments to political repression, in Moscow) all reviews and photos for the last two months have disappeared. In the first week after the death of Alexei Navalny, hundreds of messages appeared there with words of condolences and photographs of flowers.
I ask you to help me deal with this situation.

Hi @Ondograf “Welcome to Connect! If this is your first visit, you’ve come to the right place. This post will serve as a guide for everything you need to know about contributing content and engaging with the Local Guides community on Connect”. This is the first of the information that you will find in “Your guide to Connect” , the introductory Guide of the community.

In there you will find all the necessary information to know how to better contribute in here.

I am personally sorry about the situation in Russia, and about what happened to Alexei Navalny. It is absolutely terrible. However Google Maps is not a Social Media website or App, and it is designed for a totally different scope. Using Maps for that scope will always end in the removal of the comments, exactly for the reason mentioned above. The same happens on every location.

This has nothing to do with Freedom of Speech, but simply with the function of Google Maps.

Hope you can understand.

Do you have a doubt about how to do something? The Help desk is here for you, with a long list of post with detailed indications on how to post.

Which kind of contents we share in the community? What are Connect topics? will give you an explanation

Hi @Ondograf

Such sensitive issues are beyond what we Local Guides can fix and influence. Likely also out of Google’s control.

Google will never comment on such issues.

It is quite usual that contributions from users get blocked in times of crisis. Learn more here:

Hi @Ondograf ,

I see that you have posted the same on your main post, and I am merging your comment there to keep Connect organized.

As mentioned by your fellow Local Guides, we encourage you to use your own image on your post as we value originality and using image that does not belong to you is in violation of the Local Guides Program Rules. That said, we suggest replacing the images with your own.
