Who doesn’t like free things? I do! When we travel, I always look for places to entertain my kids, places that are fun and low cost. Thanks for local guide, now I have the platform to share this with you. Over the last 13 years living in Brisbane, I’ve discovered a few places that are beautiful, relaxing, and fun for the kids. The big bonus is that it costs nothing for you (excluding parking and food ? ). I’m so excited to share those places with you! And hope that you and your little ones will enjoy all those places at Southbank Brisbane.
- The Corner (State Library)
Great place to dress up, role play, create crafts and enjoy the river view across the window. The theme changes every few months. Thanks to SL staff. All the themes are handmade by them, so the kids can have different experiences, imagine themselves on a sail boat; put some life jackets on rescue some sea animals; or live in a igloo. There are so many creative ideas made by them, I appreciated so much every time I visit.
- GOMA
GOMA (gallery of modern art) is the building next to State Library, has lots of awesome activities for kids. They also change the theme every few months. The kids can explore so many different kinds of art for kids, and expose to other kids’ art. It’s a space for kids to unleash their mind, to create in their own.
- Southbank Parklands
One of our favourite parks in Brisbane. It’s wheelchair assessable, kids can ride their bikes or scooters, adults can rent a city cycle for $2 a day, every 30min. Ride along the Brisbane river, and appreciate the beautiful gardens at the parkland. There is a man-made beach with a city view if you don’t want to travel all the way to the coast; also a water play area for big and little kids. There are 2 playgrounds in this park, if you walk from one end to another, your kids can still have fun.
