Fortifications of Xi'an - Xi'an Ancient City Wall In China

If you come to Xi’an, don’t forget to visit Xi’an city wall as it’s one of the tourist attractions because of its old history. The Xi’an City Wall is a unique and impressive structure, measuring 12 meters tall and 13.7 kilometers long. The wall is built of tamped earth and is the most complete city wall that has survived the Ming Dynasty. It features four gates on each side, which are connected by a walled rampart. The wall is surrounded by a moat, which was originally filled with water and served as a defense against attackers.

I visited the wall 3 times till now, 1 time in the morning and 2 times at night but I have to say at night the view is amazing with hanged lanterns and yellow lights everywhere. If you want to walk on the top of the wall you gonna have to pay 100 RMB for the ticket but also there is a discount of 50% for students if you hold your student card with you. on the top, you can ride bikes to walk the total length of the wall if you like and it’s a custom tradition for tourists to do that. but due to the narrow pathways and the large number of tourists, it is important to take caution when riding.

At Chinese New Year, Xi’an City Wall celebrates with fireworks, lion dancing, and traditional Chinese music performances. Additionally, the city offers cultural activities, food markets, and special activities for children.

Really interesting post of a town that is thousands of miles away from me and, sadly, I will probably never be able to visit. Thank you for the post and the photos.
