Shahi Masjid, Jalore Fort, Jalore, Rajasthan, India.
As soon as I crossed the Chand pole, my excitement had increased and fatigue had also reduced. There was a very interesting view at first sight. A splendid mosque on the right side, a grand temple on the left side and a huge Jain temple on the front, which symbolise communal harmony. This is the same fort where Maharana Pratap’s mother grew up.
Qila Masjid built on a high platform. This mosque was built around 1319 AD on the orders of Alauddin Khilji. This mosque is an amazing example of magnificent Islamic architecture. This mosque is also known as Shahi Masjid. After the entrance and the huge courtyard, the main prayer hall which has three domes on its roof and two minarets. The inner arches and ceilings are carved with floral motifs and modestly decorated. Complete mosque is surrounded by a Boundary wall. After 700 years it’s in excellent shape and prayers are offered regularly. Furnished roof based on stone columns and decorated projected pillar capitals are significant. It’s architecture is elegant and adorable.
This visit was quite unusual and tiresome but was memorable. It’s a significant monument located within the fort.
