Forced to delete photos from google maps

I visited a place and was able to take some photos and create revies on google maps, however, after the photos were viewed, I was confronted to delete the photos.

Does this mean anything like privacy encroachment or how do we handle such cases?

Am I likely to face any remedies, and if yes, how can I defend myself over such an issue.

Every situation is different, so it is not possible to give a generic answer, @Ngumenawesamson

So we need to understand a few things, before to give you an answer:

  • Were the photos taken on a publicly accessible area? If not (e.g. photos of a production area) you should not post them, because the general public will not be able to access the site
  • If in a publicly accessible area, there was any signs indicating to not take photos? In any case, asking before to take photos is always a good option.
  • Where the photos showing an external part of the business, publicly visible from the street? If so, you can keep the photos.

In any case, asking before taking photos is always a good idea, remembering that No means No, and that we cannot help a business against what the business wants

Hello @Ngumenawesamson ,

The How-tos section of Connect is the board where you can share your questions related to the Local Guides program or your Google Maps contributions. To keep Connect more organized, I will move your post there.
