“What’s the most interesting thing you’ve done as a Local Guide?”

I mostly translated the names of restaurants around Nobeoka Station into English.
When a traveler chooses a restaurant, he or she will choose it based on the restaurant’s rating, meal photos, and types. Of course, language does not matter for photos or restaurant types. We have no problem as rating comments are automatically translated by Google.
However, in Japan, almost names of restaurants on Google Maps are not entered in English. This is because if we edit information by using “Suggest an edit” function on Google Maps under Japanese language setting, we can only edit the name in Japanese.
I would suggest placing English names by default under the Japanese name column. I think Google Guides in Japan will fill its English name if column is there. To enter an English name, we must switch to the English environment, and most Japanese do not know how to do this.
I hope that knowing the name of the store will increase the chances of visiting the store in 2021. -
Posted an English comment with “How to”.
There are very few English comments on tourist spots and famous restaurants in my town. But that means that comments in English will be displayed first.
Impressions and comments can help you decide where to go, but the next step is how. Japanese transportation is difficult for foreigners to understand, so I’ve included comments on how to get there.
I envision a future where many foreigners will visit. We are looking forward to seeing you after we overcome this issue.
