Foods near me

Hello everyone, since I am from Bangalore , India I would like to bring some typical food which is popular and eaten almost everyday , in our homes and sometimes when we go out to a restaurant. A lot of people in India may not be aware of some of them as in each region of our country it varies.

So here goes…

  1. Rice and sambar.- A typical lunch and dinner especially in South India. In southern part of India we are rice eaters. With rice we may have with a vegetarian/ non-veg dish with some gravy ( in the picture shown is with an egg ).

  1. Coffee - Kumbakonam is a temple city in Tamilnadu, a southern state in India. The coffee beans are nicely roasted and chicory is added to make it stronger. It is specially served in bronze tumbler as shown in the picture. Popular in Tamil Nadu and other southern states.

  1. Buns for breakfast which is slightly sweet taste popular in the coastal areas of Karnataka, India.

  1. Rice steamed like dumpling . Another popular breakfast in coastal areas of Karnataka, India. It is normally served with chutney as shown in the picture or any other suitable gravy to personal taste.

  1. Roti and curry: One of most popular meal in India. Roti is made from wheat flour and very popular meals in most homes in India. Only the side dish varies whether you want a vegetable dish (as shown in the picture ) or Non-veg gravy

  1. When ever we attend a function to celebrate an event like a wedding or engagement this is how the food is served , in a plantain leaf . A no of vegetable dishes with rice and maybe a small sweet ( as shown in the picture)

  1. A typical South Indian meal served in most of the bigger restaurants. Each dishes is served in a separate cup ,with roti and rice and a sweet. A bigger version of the previous meal I have just described.

  1. North Indian Meals : A big plate with dishes slightly different compared to the previous South Indian meal . Normally assorted type of Roti, and instead of white rice , a fried rice version is given . The dishes served in the cups are also different like made of pea, beans and other variety.

It wasn’t the best idea to read your post when I am hungry. But great photos, they all seem so delicious!

Thank you🙏

Hi @Dinakar1 ,

Those are really visually appealing dishes, thanks for sharing with us!

To my disappointment, I have not managed to try any of the dishes, however I admit that I have tried to make myself once chutney with tomato sauce, hot sauce and peanut butter (I am not sure if that is the correct way, please do correct). : ]

@sonnyNg …ha ha…well, I don’t cook much but basically for the Chutney they add lot of grated coconut, all the spices including chilled, ginger, dhal etc…and grind the whole stuff to make the paste of chutney.

However they are different versions depending on what you add like Garlic chutney and onion chutney…

You can add what you like as you are the creator and to taste like sauce etc

Cheers…:pray::grin:
