Thanks for sharing the mouth-watering photo of Chicken Polao @RosyKohli Ji. I really love it very much. Thank you so much. You know most of the restaurants in the Indian subcontinent serve Chicken Curry. If you know any of them (I know, you know many of them ) you can share the google maps link to participate in this week’s #FoodChallenge.
I am tagging @Tejal Ji who is very good at cooking and @Shrut19 to see your delicious photo of the Chicken Polao.
Hello @Velvel Apu, I got another food which is crispy and nearly similar to the Kerupuk. I bought the raw one from the shop, fried it at home, and got this shape. It tastes nice with a little sugar. What do you think @SoniaK Apu about this one? Unfortunately, I do not know the real name of it .
You got the right point about the taste of this snack @Velvel Apu. Without sugar, it tastes plain. But as it is crispy you can eat many even without sugar. Thanks a lot for your nice comments and for liking the snacks.
Another mouth watering week is here! Thank you @MukulR for the compilation of all the special days. That picture of polao and chicken in your post is making me drool so much that I can almost smell it. Not sure which category I should participate in this week.
Curried chicken is not just a dish made with curry powder. The chicken is well cooked with lots of varieties of flavorful spices and stewed slowly to turn it into an aromatic dish is what we call curried chicken. Nobody can make it better than someone from the Indian subcontinent, i.e. India, Pakistan or Bangladesh.
Mai Colachi is a Pakistani restaurant in Plano, Texas. This restaurant sells really good curried chicken in various forms. In my review I shared my experience there. Mai Colachi is now one of my favorites in DFW.
Did you know that spices, that are responsible for making food hot and spicy, are being used in our recipes for around 6,000 years? Isn’t that amazing? Spices don’t just make a dish spicy or hot, they have a lot of health benefits as well. The spices kill the harmful bacteria in our bodies, they also increase our metabolism. Even though the Asians are known to use the most of spices in the world, there are lots of other cuisines too that are famous for their hot and spicy food. Cajun foods, for example, are supposed to be hot and spicy. They are famous for their fire-in-mouth spicy food. And my favorite Cajun restaurant in DFW is Razoos. This Louisiana style restaurant serves really spicy food. In my review I shared my experience there. Every time we go there, we come back with a unique and wonderful fiery experience in our mouth. My Bangladeshi tongue loves that fire.
Thanks a lot for participating in this week’s #Foodchallenge@SoniaK apu. Every week a learn a lot of things from you about some special foods. You are absolutely right about the benefits of spices that are used in our subcontinent or in Asia. From your comments, for the first time, I came to know about Cajun foods. They seem really spicey and hot to me.
This week I am sharing a special Moa (মোয়া) with you. The below photo is the Chirar Moa made in my home with Date Juice. As it is made with Date Juice, it is soft and crispy. Not like hard and sticky that is made of molasses. I hope you will like this special চিড়ার মোয়া .
Cajun is basically a style of cooking developed by descendants of the French people who migrated to North America (mostly Canada and some part of the USA) back in 17th or 18th century. They incorporated the spice and cooking styles from West Africa, France and Spain. Which probably explains why the food is so spicy. West African people eat a lot of spicy food. Whereas the French people use a lot of butter in their cooking. And not to mention, Spanish food is all about flavor and seafood and fresh produce. Many people mistakenly call Cajun food as creole, which is a totally different cuisine. This is probably because Cajun people are mostly based in Louisiana and so are the Creole people. They both use a lot of spice in their cooking and they both have French heritage in both the cultures. These two cultures are far more related in terms of geographically and historically than most people realize. But a basic difference between these two cuisines are, creole people use a lot of tomato and basil in their cooking, but Cajuns don’t. Oh, and a funny difference between these two groups is, Cajun people are white and the Creole people are black. This might sound racist, but that’s the truth. I learned these over the time by going to Cajun restaurants in last two years. I am a big fan of seafood gumbo now. See, gumbo is a common staple food in both the cultures. But you will know that you are eating Cajun gumbo when you will see the absence of tomato and basil in the gumbo. But be careful when you order for gumbo. If it’s not a seafood gumbo, chances are very high that it will have sausages in it, in both Cajun and Creole gumbos, which is basically pork.
I’m glad that you find my comments helpful, @MukulR . That’s the main idea of sharing my thoughts here as well.
The moa looks delicious. I didn’t know that moas are made of date juices as well. I have always tried the ones made with molasses. I actually like chiarar moa (we call it chirar naru) more than I like murir moa because of its crunchiness. I would definitely like to try this date juice moa one day. Thank you for sharing the picture.
I am sorry for my late reply @SoniaK Apu as I am sick for the last few days. Anyway, your explanation of Cajun Food is really amazing. You made it easier to understand than any other web content. Thanks. I think tomato confused people between Cajun and Creole. The red color comes from the spices in Cajun where it comes from the tomato in Creole. It is not easy for general people to say, at first sight, that this is Cajun and this is Creole. Though I have not seen both the foods yet, but, if anyone brings them before me, I can be closer to identifying the Cajun and the Creole. Thanks a lot for your nice submission with beautiful photos and the screenshot of your nice review. Stay safe.
Hello, @MukulR . Hope your illness is not serious and you will be healthy soon. Take care of yourself.
As my part of your challenge for this week I’d like to share the following:
Chocolade: Lviv Chocolate Workshop is a pretty nice place to buy different souvenirs made from chocolate or take a cup of hot chocolate at the caffee upstairs.
Thanks for your good wishes @OlgaKlimchik . I am recovering, and no serious issue yet. Thanks a lot. I am very much glad that you got time to participate in this week’s #FoodChallenge with several POIs. Amazing.
Since you said that “The spices kill the harmful bacteria in our bodies, they also increase our metabolism”, it encourages me more to keep liking spicy food, my fellow spicy lovers @SoniaK
