Food Strengthens My Cultural Identity for Local Guides and Explorers
Food is one of the essential requirements for the human growth and development. Whenever a traveler visits a community, region or even a country, he/she will like to have a taste of the best traditional meal of that community.
In Nigeria, we are diverse with different cultural values and heritage. In the Eastern part of Nigeria which is predominately the Igbo tribe, we have so many local and interesting dishes like Onugbo Soup (Bitter leaf soup), Ora Soup, Abacha (Africa Salad), Ji (yam) & Ukpaka (oil bean), Ofe Aku & Egusi Soup.
I love sharing some of my traditional meals and I have shared some already on local guides connect. For example, A Unique Igbo Delicacy & ORA SOUP and A Welcoming Igbo Traditional Meal: Roasted Yam with Oil Bean (Ukpaka). Sharing how to prepare my traditional meal is one of the greatest things I love doing because it will enable travelers and tourists to have a taste of our traditional meal before they travel back.
I have made it a practice, that wherever part of the world I travel to, I must taste their cultural meal or any unique delicacy. Travelling is my favorite hobby and I don’t miss that opportunity to explore places, food, ideology and talents. I have been to over 25 states out of 36 states in Nigeria and I am proud to say I am a True Local Guide, A True Nigerian, A True Explorer and A True Traveler.
