How do I get others to follow me on google maps?

As I understand, Vancouver is not yet in the list of cities where the features “follow” is launched.
You need waiting for a full rollout.
Even after that, to expect followers, you need to contribute with great photos, engaging reviews and useful lists. That will start attracting the followers automatically.

This feature is not yet available to all of us for now as @C_T has mentioned, only a few selected countries and cities have this feature running, see this link for more Discover even more places on Google Maps or Discover new places with help from top Local Guides You can still take advantage for the fact that while it is not available to everyone, you can still follow local guides from the mentioned list, if you reside from one of the cities on the list, then you can start enjoying it right way.
