Followers seem to be coming from very far away!

I seem to be getting a lot of followers that are from very far away. I have a couple of questions, how do I increase my local followers? Or at least in my own country? Is there a setting? I’m I missing settings that can zone in on a geographic area? It just seems like most of the request to follow are coming from places I’ve never been to or are overseas from my country. Feels kind of spammy, Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hello @TheOriginalBigToe

Well I noticed this is your first post on local guides connect so I decided to stop by and say A big welcome to you. Generally speaking I often present A Welcome-to-Connect-Card . This card is like a brief orientation and introduction to connect as forum.

On this forum we discuss topics like Travel, Photography, Food and Drinks, and many other topics. Please endeavour to look up this posts Your Guide to Connect for more information on what topics are discussed here.

Back to your question, the one way to get followers is to consistently post great and quality contents in the local places you visit on the maps. It is possible that Google is suggesting people who have the same interests as yourself to you.

You could also search for places in your geographical region and follow people who have contributed to places that interest you. Follow people who have the same interests like yourself,in your locality. If you are lucky they might also decide to follow you back. I am not aware of any such settings of zone in a particular geographical area.

Hope that answers your question. I have thousands of followers but yet,I only follow those I know and am sure of their quality contributed on the maps

Happy guiding

Cheers

Google Maps is a truly global community, so why would you expect more locals to follow you.

Further, your profile is set to restricted.

If you want more followers it might be a good idea to change your privacy setting as explained here.

It will allow others to check your contributions prior to following you. That is what I do when considering to follow others.

All the best
