The Housing and Office services department of a university organized a beautiful exhibition displaying the Flowers and Plants which was open for all the university community and public. A Five-a-side football court is transformed into a beautiful garden filled with a variety of flowers and plants.
All the Covid-19 precautionary measures (Distancing, Face masks, body temperature check) were maintained at the exhibition site. The objective of the exhibition is to educate the people about the significance of flowers and plants in human life and the benefits which they offer to them. The organizing committee gifted a small plant in a pot as a souvenir to the people who have attended this exhibition.
The following are the details of some of the plants which were exhibited at this event:
- Tradescantia: This is distinguished by its striking dark violet color, which gives the garden a wonderful color compliment. This plant has small pink flowers with three petals which usually grows during the spring season.
- Agave Attenuate: This is an ornamental plant mainly used for its aesthetic value.
- Pandanus Veitchii: This is also a form of ornamental plant used to decorate the offices and public buildings. Its leaves are also used in making crafts.
- Vinca Rosea: This is an outdoor shrub with spread branches mainly used for covering the ground spaces between and under the trees.
- Yucca Elephantipes: This plant is native to South America and the Antilles. It has over 40 species and are known for its durability.
- Echinocactus Grusonii: This plant can easily tolerate both the drought and excessive hotness and can also withstand temperature up to 10C.
- Aloe vera Barbadensis: This plant is used as an alternative medicine for treating hair, skin and the body and also for treating sunburns and wounds.
Snack food is available outside the exhibition site and dining area is also provided for diners.
