Hi friends,

Recently there has been an initiative started by government authorities in New Delhi, where the Environment department is planting some Floating Plants in the city lakes.

I’ve been to one of the lakes near my home - Naini Lake . There I saw a bunch of floating plants present over a white-coloured board. Though, I was surprised at first, later I found how it is useful for the environment.

I read that these plants also emit our oxygen and takes in the nutrients present over the lake surface - thereby reducing the dirt and waste present over water surface. It seems a unique method to reduce water pollution.

Also, they provide cover & food for aquatic organisms like fishes.

I can see that day by day, people are taking some innovative steps to protect our environment. Please share your thoughts about it and what different ways people are using in your country to save the environment.

Thank you for sharing this initiative. I haven’t heard of this method for planting plants before. Not only do they look beautiful but also help preserve our environment. I should try it as well and contribute to our well-being. I just hope that the plants will survive longer. Do you know the material of the board?

Hi @MoniDi ,

I studied about this method during my college days, but only saw in real recently. Yes, it is one of the best methods to keep our environment (esp. aquatic life) healthy. The plants do survive for a long time period, as what I read.

I don’t know exactly about the material of this board, but it was looking something like fibre or white cement.
