Five Innovative and Unique Architectural Masterpieces

Architecture is art . It is one field I admired more than others.My interest in architecture started many years back and a times I which I was an architect. Recently , I was in Amsterdam , a city of canals, museums and cathedrals . Yet beyond the canals and museums are the modern architectures which adorned the city. Here are the few buildings that amaze me and will want to share with you.

1.The Pontsteiger**

The Pontsteiger building was designed by renowned architects Arons & Gelauff. The location offers an amazing view of Amsterdam. Pontsteiger building has become one of the most talked-about buildings in Amsterdam. A design in which the living preferences of its residents have always been the key element. One of the designers ,Arnoud Gelauff, was quoted to have said ''Because people love living either high for the view, or low right on the water, the Pontsteiger building is both perfect and daring ‘’.

2. Amsterdam Centre for Architecture

The Amsterdam Centre for Architecture is located in the city centre, at the Prins Hendrikkade. The building is designed by René van Zuuk and it is a compact, sculptural building existing of three layers which are connected .

On the level of the Prins Hendrikkade, the exhibition space and the information point are situated. The lowest level of the building, by the waterside, is used for debates, meetings and school classes’ visits.

3.Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam

The Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam is a spectacular building on the tip of the Java Island with a transparent glass facade, and a unique 30-meter high wooden, bearing construction. Beams, columns, ceilings and frames are made of natural wood . The Hotel is constructed for sustainability with recyclable materials .

4. New Muziekgebouw

The new Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam is the location for two music institutions in Amsterdam: the Ijsbreker for modern music and the BIMhuis for jazz and improvised music. Danish 3XN Architects won the competition in 1997. The structure of the building consists in a concrete volume, surrounded by a glass façade and covered by a roof slab, oriented towards the harbour and the station; on the right side a solid box is ejected over the side channel, supported by a bridge structure, and facing the center of Amsterdam.

5. Gerechtshof Amsterdam

The Gerechtshof Amsterdam of Amsterdam is a court of building. It is one of the top architectural master piece in the city.
