I took this photo of the Fischerhafen Honningsvåg (fishing port) from the Scandic Bryggen hotel. We were there in 2017 before taking a road trip up European Route E69 to see the midnight sun at Nordkapp (the North Cape) way above the Arctic Circle in Honningsvag (Norway), a place where Reindeer and Santa are real (you can really meet them there). This is the top of the world as, unless you want to go to the nearby North Pole, there’s really nowhere else to go - really, the only way from here is back down south.
It’s funny but I often end up at fishing ports or villages like when I ended up at Peggy’s Cove, when traveling in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
This photograph is so beautiful! You can make a print out of it and put it on the wall. I love the Scandinavian style and vibe and makes miss Finland so much.
What did you like most about your trip to Norway? I still haven’t been there, but I’d love to explore the country some day. Maybe during summer time as I know it can be quite cold and windy.
Awsome photo @AdamGT sir. Really very beautiful photo. This post also have interesting information. If possible i would like to see any photo clicked by you of Midnight son. It might be very different feeling to watch midnight son.
Oh that’s such a nice comment @DanniS , thank you so much. Yes, it’s very much Scandinavian. Funnily I was only just chatting to @ChanneLing on another post about Scandinavia and in particular, I mentioned some of my travels in Norway and I did agree with him, while it can be more expensive traveling there when compared to other European countries, it really is well worth it. In that brief discussion I mentioned my Norway posts The Top of the World, Honningsvåg, Norway and One of the most northern churches on earth. As well as posts about my travels in Iceland and Greenland, I’m slowly adding posts about my travels in Norway…there’s more to come.
Anyway, getting back to your question lol, there really is so many attractions and amazing places like Nordkapp that I could talk about, but really what I immensely enjoyed about Norway was the architecture and ‘feel’ of the country if you know what I meanand you will recall @DanniS that we spoke there about the architecture in one of my other Norway posts and you mentioned the amazing Chapel in Helsinki. Yes, unless you’re wanting to see say the midnight sun or run in the midnight sun marathon, then summer is the best time to visit. I do wish that you will visit Norway so we can all read about your experience there.
Once again thank you for your lovely comment which motivates this hobbyists to keep clicking
Thank you @Rohan10 for your most rewarding comment. Unfortunately while I visited many places in Iceland, Greenland and Norway, I never got to properly see the midnight sun, well not that I know of but anyway I have to tell you, I took some really nice photos in these places, while not so colorful, like the one I posted in Where the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans meet, and the one here, both taken in Akureyri, the northern capital of Iceland. This is not as far north above the Arctic Circle as I got to, but still an amazing place to visit!
Totally agree with you, this photo is presented the peaceful, clear and clean sea. I have a chance, I would love to travel there and have the same look and feel.
FIrstly, let me welcome you to Connect and say that I’m most honored that you have posted your very first comment on Connect on my post Thank you also for liking my photo of this fishing port. It is exactly as you have described and I do wish that you get the chance to travel there to experience it too. You might also like to see my post and photo about Peggy’s Cove, another fishing village across the Atlantic from here in Halifax, NS, Canada. Check it out @xanhasia !!
