Lourdes, ¿center of faith or faith shopping center?
This summer I visited Lourdes for first time. I was amazed at the beauty and meaning of the sanctuary, even being a non-religous person.
But also a bit dissapointed to see the incredible amount of marketing-souvenir shops that were all around, being full of neon lights and signs to grab a few euros from the visitors.
To be honest, first thing that came to my mind when seeing this kind of shop was Magaluf. Ones are there looking for redemption and blessed water, others are there looking for “sins” and cheap alcohol. Very different but very similar at the same time isn’t it?
