I am Cheng-Yen (CY) Lin, the walker from Taipei, Taiwan. I work as a project manager in marketing company and discover 211 Zhong Zheng (中正) Roads around the country. So, what does the Local Guides program mean to me? It is the way to find the similarity and difference from the place to place.
In 1950s, the main streets were often named to honor the late president Chiang Kai-Shek (who was called as Zhong Zheng in Mandarin) and memory the father of the nation Sun Yat-Sen (who was called as Zhong Shan in Mandarin). Therefore, these two roads could be found in almost every town center in Taiwan. I would like to walk through all the 211 Zhong Zheng roads in the country. I called this program “walkonzzroad”. And the Local Guides program helps me a lot.
Here are some tips I take for making the tour plan. I use Google map to locate the road and discover the historic and cultural heritages around there. The reflection from the local guides helps me a lot on making the decision. The photos and comments will help me to set the recording goals. For me, I won’t give any up Zhong Zheng roads uf I cannot find any interesting places in advanced. On the other hand, I will put more time to discover the place. I believe there must be something to make the roads named by the great (but controversial) person in 1950s.
I shared my photos and comments on Google Maps as well. I hope it could support any visitors like me to see the similarity and difference from this Zhong Zheng Road to that Zhong Zheng Road. Now, I have walked 85 roads. The stories are not only on Google Maps but also on Facebook Fanspage (Redirecting...), Twitter (@walkonzzroad) and Instagram (walkonzzroad). Welcome to visit my pages and it would be even better to visit Taiwan by participation in my Local Guides program.
