Finding (hidden) gems and supporting local businesses

What I really like about Google Maps is exploring destinations that I will be going to for interesting places to visit. Before travelling anywhere I will look up a couple of spots that I find interesting and mark them as “want to go”, I always end up with a longer lists than I could ever manage to visit but it gives me the exiting feeling of wanting to come back some day and see even more. If I find a place that I particularly like, I usually take as many pictures as possible that show the location from my point of view.
For example have I picked up a new hobby last year, road cycling and it has me exploring bike shops in my neighbourhood as well while travelling. Just the other day I found a local bike shop that makes custom bikes while looking for inner tubes. I fell in love with the beautiful frames displayed in the shop and had a nice chat with the owner of the shop. When I left the store I immediately uploaded a bunch of pictures and when came home I rated the store, so that others might hopefully find it in the future, too. I also plan to add more details to the shops page on Maps in the future.
Contributing and benefitting is what community for me is all about. Other peoples contributions help me daily and I’d like to think that I help other people as well by contributing myself.

Sharing is caring, as they say!
