There’s a closed group on Facebook, it’s the West Bottoms Brunch Club. Three guys who’ve crossed paths several times in the local food industry decided they wanted to try something different, and created this Brunch Club. It gathers sporadically, in their loft, formerly the location of a haunted house in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, MO. A freight elevator takes you there, and when you arrive you take open seating. You might have a table to yourselves, or you might sit with strangers. But the vibe here is completely cool and familial. They even ask you to slap on a name tag so you can meet some new friends.
For a donation that merely offsets their costs, you help yourself to a bottomless afternoon of scratch-made brunch favorites, mimosas and screwdrivers made with freshly squeezed juice, bloody marys, and coffee roasted by small, local company.
You have to be invited by someone who’s already a member of the Club on Facebook, and if you’re accepted, then you will be treated to the posts which tell you when to expect the next one, and also tells you what they’re cooking up for you.
