I love to find accessible places and updating on Google Maps and also sharing with others; it is my little effort to create awareness for accessibility issues. I think our small contribution will make the Google Maps more helpful to all, especially for disables. Today, I would like share my experience about accessibility work at my school in Mymensingh.
I studied in a village school, and I completed my primary and secondary school from village many years before. The school is situated to a village nearby my village; it is so close from my house. That time there was no options for students with wheelchair users, that time accessible entrance or ramp was unthinkable; there was no ramp at all, all the entrance was only with stairs.
Last couple of weeks ago I visited my school and i am glad to see the accessible
ramps at the entrance of each building. The school management committee add ramp with stairs in each buildings. They set the ramps so nicely that each building is accessible from other building and also the play ground. It is a good sign that the school management committee is encouraging students with wheelchair users to study in the school and also welcoming parents with disability to come at school to look after their child. Definitely, it’s a great work to implement accessible features in the school even though the school is located in a rural area,
